eXAU / eXAG — Frequently Asked Questions

eXAU (Ember Gold) and eXAG (Ember Silver) are fully-allocated, physically-backed precious-metal tokens issued on Canton Network for trading on Temple's CLOB.

What are eXAU and eXAG?

eXAU and eXAG are digital tokens that each represent direct ownership of physical precious metal held in professional vaults. Each eXAU is backed by one troy ounce of LBMA Good Delivery gold, and each eXAG is backed by one troy ounce of LBMA Good Delivery silver. The tokens are fully allocated and backed 1:1 — one token, one ounce — with no yield, leverage, or synthetic exposure. They are issued by Ember Protocol Inc. and available on Canton Network for use across Temple's trading venues.

Their value tracks the market price of the underlying metal: eXAU moves with the price of gold and eXAG with the price of silver. Unlike a stablecoin, eXAU and eXAG are not pegged to a fixed value.

How eXAU and eXAG Work

  • Issuer. Ember Protocol Inc. issues and redeems the tokens and is the brand owner. The physical metal backing the tokens is held by a professional custody partner at LBMA-accredited vaults. Temple is the listing venue.

  • Network. eXAU and eXAG are issued natively on Canton Network using the Canton Token Standard. They are the instruments listed on Temple.

  • Backing. Each token is backed 1:1 by allocated physical bullion — one troy ounce of gold (eXAU) or silver (eXAG) — held on a segregated, allocated basis at professional vaults. A holder holds a document of title to the corresponding metal.

  • No yield. Holding eXAU or eXAG does not earn interest, dividends, or any return. Value derives solely from the underlying metal.

  • Use. eXAU and eXAG provide tokenized precious-metal exposure that trades on Temple's CLOB, with trades settling on Canton.

How do I get eXAU or eXAG?

Any Temple customer can acquire eXAU or eXAG by trading into it on Temple's CLOB. No separate onboarding is required beyond your existing Temple account.

How do I convert eXAU or eXAG back to another asset?

Convert eXAU or eXAG by trading it into another supported asset on Temple's CLOB. Direct redemption with the issuer is not available to end users; conversion occurs through trading on Temple.

Reserves and Transparency

eXAU and eXAG are backed 1:1 by allocated physical bullion held on a segregated basis at LBMA-accredited professional vaults. Reserves are subject to independent reserve attestations covering the physical existence and vault holdings of the metal, made available from time to time.

Key Risks

Holders should understand the following before using eXAU or eXAG:

  • eXAU and eXAG are not legal tender, are not backed by any government, and are not insured by the FDIC or SIPC.

  • Their value fluctuates with the market price of gold and silver and may fall as well as rise; they are not stable-value assets.

  • Holders are not entitled to any yield, interest, or return earned on the underlying metal.

  • The underlying metal is held by third-party custodians and vault operators; it may be subject to seizure or forfeiture by legal or regulatory directive, and holders rely on the custody arrangements and the issuer's performance.

  • Transactions on Canton Network may be irreversible; losses from accidental transactions may not be recoverable.

  • Digital assets are subject to legislative and regulatory change, which may adversely affect their use, transfer, and value.

  • Technological difficulties experienced by the issuer, Temple, or third-party providers may temporarily prevent access to or use of eXAU or eXAG.
